This year diwali ended on a sombre note. The reasons being 2 Cs. Cash and climate were the culprits. Just a day before diwali, the RBI, central bank regulator, hiked the interest rate in order to " tame " the inflation rage. The housing loan got dearer. All edible oil rates had already hit through the rooftop. The "must have" crackers for diwali was simply too expensive. In addition, the climate played the spoilsport, which put the "prospective" buyers in a fix ----to buy or not to buy.
On the whole, the overall mood was dampened by extraneous reasons.
